Elizabeth Scales

Practice Manager

Elizabeth grew up in a small town in the foothills before moving to Modesto to pursue education within the Veterinary Technician Program at Modesto Junior College. She was a part of the beginning stages of the Equine Program at MJC where she learned her love of barn management and horse husbandry. Shortly after graduating college, she started working at CalCrush Clydesdales, a 6 horse-hitch that traveled up and down Northern California and Nevada. While spending over 100 days per year on the road, she effectively managed all facets of a travel hitch, including the coordination of the horses and the extensive logistics involved in traveling to rodeos, fairs, and parades. During her time with the Clydesdales, Elizabeth worked closely with the team at Pioneer to ensure the health and well-being of the CalCrush Clydesdales and quickly knew she wanted to work at Pioneer. When the Hitch was retired in 2018, Elizabeth started working for Pioneer as the Pharmacy Technician. With her customer service and problem-solving skills, she moved over to be part of the Customer Service Representative team. In 2024, Elizabeth was promoted to Practice Manager and is continuing to further her knowledge of managing a large facility.

When Elizabeth is not at the clinic, she can be found with her horse Steven, who she hopes to do some Jumper shows in the future, or cuddling with her Miniature Horse, Pickles, who lives at Dr. Hicks’ house. While not with her horses, Elizabeth enjoys her time at home with her husband, Seth, and their 3 dogs and 2 cats. Elizabeth also fosters for a local Guinea Pig and Rabbit rescue, Little Hearts Rescue, where she has adopted 4 of her own Guinea Pigs and is almost always with one or two Guinea Pigs as fosters.
