Ashley Cameron, DVM, MS, DACVS(LA)
Ashley grew up in Colorado showing Arabian horses. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force enlisted reserves and completing an undergraduate degree at Syracuse University, she returned to home and earned a Master’s Degree in Animal Science and DVM both from Colorado State University.
After vet school, Dr. Cameron completed an internship at Equine Medical Center of Ocala in Florida followed by a fellowship in equine surgery and medicine at Oregon State University. She completed a residency at the University of Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center in large animal surgery. Her training spanned from fracture repair secondary to trauma or athletic injuries, lameness, upper airway surgery to emergency abdominal surgery in all large animal species. Her specific interests and research in her residency focused on regenerative medicine, specifically mesenchymal stem cells and their role in immunomodulation in osteoarthritis. Following her residency, she was the emergency surgeon at Washington State University and later at a private practice in Colorado. She was afforded the opportunity to join the Pioneer Equine Hospital team in 2024, returning to her love of combing elective surgery, emergency surgery, and lameness. In her spare time she enjoys running and hiking with her miniature dachshund, Maggie.
